Flower of evil...or just an extra judicial execution?”
Exhibition Gallery ad hoc/noble design, Stockholm 2006
After the “Parts and Pieces” exhibition I got in a terrible condition of not knowing what to do next, not a clue. I was looking at my earlier artworks in an extremely negative way and I didn’t accept any of my new ideas, so I didn’t produce anything that I wanted to sell even if I was working more then ever.
2005 I was leading a group of artist in an art park project that I set up for the first time 2003. It was a success even if I wasn’t satisfied with my part of the exhibition. I was looking for a way to leave my old storytelling pictures/paintings and I wanted to do something that was more direct in its expression, more like a manifest then a language.
In that time I took part in the protests against the war in Iraq and I was demonstrating against that we saw as an American colonial invasion.
In the extension of the war my protests became also protests against happenings connected to the war against terrorism and camps like that in Guantanamo and the consent Bush showed when Israel uses extrajudicial executions in the struggle against Palestine.
Around the time when the Hamas leader, Ahmed Yassin, was killed by an IDF-strike, I did the first tests with a revolver on some painted pieces of aluminium. |
